Bio:

DJ XTC, as he loves to refer to his stage name from one of his all time favourite on air personalities as the “often imitated never duplicated one” , has over the past 13 years been an influential part of the music industry. He’s had the opportunity to be mentored by some of the most influential DJ’s and producers in Canada. A friend to several Juno award winning artists and songwriters, and well know promoter in the “scene”, he considers himself to be one step ahead of the continuous evolution of the music industry. It’s estimated that over 3 1/2 million downloads have resulted in his début podcast in April 2005, followed by an estimated 500,000 from the June 2005 “house” podcast with former Ministry of Sound, Love Inc, and Pirate Radio DJ Iron Mike.

“It’s really hard to judge what will do well and what won’t. It’s really up to the fans. Sometimes I think the set is not at my best and it does excellent, other times I think it’s the best set I’ve done in years and I barely get any downloads on it. It’s a gamble. In a business where you’re looking to constantly improve it’s hard to take credit for your previous successes. If you do well, you’re always trying to reach higher, and sometimes forget how high you’ve actually become. My wife has often reminded me of the successes of the April 2005 set, to which I’m always still trying to top. I’ve had offers from as far away as Australia to go out and spin a few nights from that set, yet only see the successes of my last show as where I currently am with my podcast.” DJ XTC currently hosts a global podcast called Global Trance Sessions.

DJ XTC is a husband and father of a 3 year old son that suffers from Fragile X syndrome which is a form of Autism. “It’s hard to commit to something so far away due to family commitments.” XTC states “Raising a child with autism is a challenging task that requires my full attention and support at the moment. ”

To date 99.9% of the Electronic Music Industry which includes several well known producers and artists, have followed XTC’s lead in releasing podcasts through P2P or syndication on online radio. XTC says “This is a great idea to support this industry that other genre’s should pick up on. It’s creating a lot of business.” XTC continues, “This also creates a lot of positive networks. In my end of the industry, everyone knows everyone. It’s like a small virtual town. It’s pretty cool, and offers sort of a community support to the genre.”

In February 2008 DJ XTC achieved 2 years in broadcasting his Global Trance Sessions. Global Trance Sessions has been nominated by his Russian fans as being one of the top EDM Podcasts globally, and his XTC Radio One series has reached out and touched more people than any of the other competing podcasts.
